This wide-ranging 12-month compliance and risk management focused series will provide the healthcare professional with insight into the long-term care litigation process and best practices for avoiding lawsuits. Instructors will include a LTC Legal Nurse Consultant with guest sessions by experienced nursing home defense attorneys. Monthly discussion will include the LTC “Hot Topics” of falls and accidents, elopement, resident changes in condition, internal investigations, incident management, medication management, communication practices and fraud and abuse. Checklists and tools will be provided to assist in assessing and monitoring areas of high litigation risk within the facility.

CMT / Insulin Training Courses
MHCA is please to announce that we now offer CMT Certification training classes both in-person and hybrid.
The purpose of the Certified Medication Technician (CMT) training program is to prepare individuals for employment as a CMT in an intermediate care or skilled care nursing facility. The program is designed to teach skills in administration of non-parenteral medications that will qualify students to perform this procedure to assist licensed practical nurses or registered professional nurses in medication therapy.
The course consists of at least 60 classroom hours of instruction and a minimum of 8-hours of clinical practice under the direct supervision of an instructor. The class consists of instruction in these areas: basic review of body systems and medication effect on each system; medical terminology; infection control; and medication classifications.
