Pre-registration is required for all workshops.  Payment/registration must be received by noon the day before the workshop begins.  Company checks are money orders should be made payable to MHCA.  Credit card payments are accepted, we accept Visa, MasterCard & American Express (please note that a 3.5% service fee will apply to American Express payments).  We do offer a billing option for MHCA Members only.  We do not accept personal checks.


Refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel in writing within 48 hours of the workshop.  Cancellations received after this time and no-shows will be charged the full registration fee.  Substitutions are allowed.  Please fax or email your written cancellation to Shauna Frank at 573-893-5248 or


When making a reservation at any of the hotel locations, specify that you are with the Missouri Health Care Association.  Special group rates are based upon availability with a cut-off date one month prior to the workshop.  Sleeping rooms, travel and meal costs are responsibility of the attendee.

Activity Director Workshop

Upon successful completion, participants in this 36-hour course will have met the requirements outlined in the MO Dept of Health & Senior Services Rules & Regulations.

Federal Review Course for Nursing Home Administrators Exam

The purpose of the Review Course is to help attendees prepare for the nursing home administrator federal licensure exam.  Review Course materials have been revised and updated to reflect the structure of the current examination.

CNA Instructor/State Examiner Workshop

This state-required and MO Dept of Health & Senior Services approved workshop is designed to prepare RNs to instruct nursing assistant students for long term care facilities.


CMT Instructor Workshop

This state-required and MO Dept of Health & Senior Services approved workshop is designed to prepare RNs to instruct medication technician students for long term care facilities.

RAI Process from Start to Finish

This workshop will look at the RAI process from beginning to end.  The MDS is used for both a clinical assessment and a financial assessment and this workshop will discuss the rules on scheduling these assessments and meeting the requirements individually and combined. 


Medicare from Start to Finish

This one-day workshop will begin with how to gain access to and read the MDS reports from CASPER in order to self-audit your RAI process.  This workshop will help the MDS coordinator and other members of the interdisciplinary team to understand the admitting criteria and the ongoing documentation needs of the Medicare resident.


Social Service Update on Regulatory Requirements of the Mega Rule

The Mega Rule hit Social Services full force.  Social Services will experience much focus during upcoming surveys.  Administrators, social service, and nursing personnel will not want to miss this one, where we'll discuss new requirements for the admission/discharge process, grievance procedures, abuse and neglect reporting, social services role in the management of psychotic agents, and the coming addition of Trauma Informed Care in Phase III.

  • Don’t Trust the EHR –How to Use the ICD-10 Book (Proper use of the tabular list and index, coding rules ateach section, digits required, etc.)
  • CMS Coding Guidelines and the Need for Specificity
  • Selecting the Principal Diagnosis
  • Coding for Injuries (7th character definitions)
  • Using Valid Documentation for Assigning Diagnoses (Physician vs. non-physician documentation)
  • Patient Driven Payment Model ICD-10 Specifics

Attendees will participate by working through actual coding examples.


Attire for MHCA workshops is business casual, we recommend you dress in layers as meeting room temperatures may vary.
