This session of the PDPM Master Class Series will review considerations for advancing clinical capabilities and care delivery under PDPM. Focus of this webinar will be on strengthening or developing care delivery processes by way of evaluating the opportunity for clinical programs, marketing clinical scope, and assuring success through facility policy, QAPI, and Facility Assessment review.



Learning Objectives

1.       Identify opportunities for care delivery advancements under PDPM

2.       Understand how the Facility Assessment and QAPI processes can aid in determination and monitoring of changes in facility practice related to clinical complexity and care provision

3.       Develop marketing techniques to promote physician, hospital, and community involvement



Amie Martin - Amie’s experience as a clinical trainer, quality assurance director, Compliance Officer and multi-facility operations manager culminated in the founding of Proactive Medical Review. She is certified in healthcare compliance and as a Resident Assessment Coordinator, and has successfully partnered with post- acute care and rehabilitation service providers to improve clinical outcomes, compliance programs, medical record documentation, and to reduce error rates under medical review. She has partnered with legal counsel to defend providers under large volume ZPIC, UPIC and RAC reviews, and manages hundreds of appeals each year with a proven track record of recovering reimbursement on denied claims.

Shelly Maffia - Shelly is a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator with experience serving as Director of Nursing, Administrator, and as a multi-site Corporate Nurse Consultant. She holds AANAC’s QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) credential. She is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and earned a Certificate in Infection Prevention in Long-Term Care. She is a skilled coder and an AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer. Shelly specializes in not only identifying SNF regulatory compliance risks, but in supporting SNF leadership in implementing the practical, real life solutions that drive performance improvement and quality outcomes.

Eleisha Wilkes - Eleisha is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years of long term care experience. She has significant experience as a Director of Nursing, Case Manager and Resident Assessment Coordinator with extensive responsibility and success in driving QA in the areas of person centered assessment and care planning through effective systems, staff development, and interdisciplinary team collaboration. She has presented educational programs related to PDPM transition success, MDS accuracy, effective care planning, Competency Based Staff Development, and Restorative Nursing Programs. Eleisha serves as a clinical consultant providing auditing, clinical training, and project development services.

Kristen Walden - Kristen is a Registered Nurse with over nineteen years of long term care experience. She has experience as a Regional Clinical Reimbursement and Nurse Consultant, Director of Nursing and Resident Assessment Coordinator.
