Employee Background Checks --Rate Increase Effective October 1, 2016 - $15.50 per person


 

If you are a MHCA Member and have a criminal account, please click https://secure.mohealthcare.com/mhca/ to proceed to the login page for your background check account.  For security purposes, sign in with your member id and password. (This is the same log-in you used previously.) 

MHCA offers this service to meet the requirements set by the State of Missouri for all facilities to conduct criminal background checks on their employees prior to hire.  The current price per background check is $15.50. Backgrounds are processed through the Missouri State Highway Patrol (RSMo Statute 660.317). Results are generally received within 24 hours unless the Patrol needs to perform additional searching (explained in “pending” status below). We offer an easy, online submission process that provides your facility with a standing online account where you can access backgrounds you have submitted with MHCA at any time. However, RAP sheets can only be printed for 30 days following the original date the results were returned. The Missouri State Highway Patrol only guarantees results for 30 days.  Therefore we are unable to provide the results past that time frame. If you need a RAP sheet for an individual and it has been over the 30-day limit, you will need to resubmit the background request for updated results.

If you do not have access to submit requests online we also offer a faxing option. However, this is not as timely as all results are faxed back and any rap sheets must be mailed to your facility. The quickest and easiest way to request and guarantee results is to use our online system. See below to download the background screening fax form.

Account Set Up

To set up an online background account  https://secure.mohealthcare.com/mhca/. Instead of logging in, choose “Need an Account” Fill out the information and submit the request.  Within minutes you should receive an approval notice that you are ready to request backgrounds online. 

Payment

Backgrounds are billed monthly. You will receive an invoice along with a listing of all individuals requested to the facility by the 15th day of the following month.

We also accept Visa and MasterCard and can bill your card on a monthly basis for all requests submitted. If you choose to pay by credit card, you will receive a statement showing amount due as well as a listing of individuals requested.

We do not process criminals on any federal or state holiday as the Highway Patrol is closed. All backgrounds will be processed the following business day.

Results will be shown as:

NO MATCH – there is no matching record in the Highway Patrol's database;

RESULTS FOUND – there was a hit from the Patrol's database and you will receive the information through an email attachment; or

PENDING –the Highway Patrol is still searching the individual’s information. Results will be released to you when available.  Pending results are typically returned within 2-3 business days.   In some situations it could take up to two weeks.
